50 Shades Of I Can’t Get Enough….

You must be living under a rock if you haven’t heard about the 50 Shades Trilogy. Every time I log onto Twitter or Face Book, there is a number of references to these books as well as to Christian Grey, who appears to have become every woman’s fantasy.

Curiosity eventually got the better, after reading so many references to the books with such widely mixed reviews. My friends are all raving about it, saying it’s the best books they’ve read in years, total page turners, complete e.r.o.t.i.c escapism, some of them going so far as to say how it had spiced things up in the bedroom with their husbands. Book critics have been less than kind about the book calling them thinly veiled mommy p.o.r.n. with a weak story line and of no great literary value.

Hardware stores around the world are apparently selling out of cable ties and soft rope and clothing stores can’t seem to keep enough stock of grey ties suddenly, mmm,  I wonder why?

So I started reading the first book on Thursday evening…. and …. I love them! I finished the first book in less than 24 hours and by Sunday evening I was half way through the third one, Fifty Shades Freed. I simply cannot get enough of these books. They are total escapism. They’re like Mills & Boon meets True Blood, I have found them to be easy and entertaining reading. They are, in my opinion, the perfect read after a long day at work, racing home to prepare dinner and see to one’s family, when you eventually sit down with a glass of wine, after your kiddiewinks have gone to bed, this is the book you’ll want to be reading unless you’re a literary or intellectual snob.

I also read this week that the author has sold the right’s for a movie on the 50 Shades Trilogy and speculation is rife as to who should play the role of Christian Grey. I had a few actor’s in mind and it would seem that the female interwebs are in agreement with me:

The least appealing for me, and I reckon for most mommy’s would be Robert Pattinson!
Have you read the 50 Shades Trilogy? What were your thoughts? And who would you like to see playing the role of Christian Grey?
And now just for a laugh, I found this on You Tube and I think Amazon didn’t a brilliant job of this Mother’s Day ad – note PG rated!

I bought the books after Lisa M recommended them. I agree, they did grab me, but her writing is quite poor. She uses the same words over and over and over again. If i have to see Oh My… or hear You’re so beautiful again i may puke.

But, as you say, they are great escapism and of course the e.r.o.t.i.c.a. is great too – although i must be honest by the third book the s.e.x. scenes were becoming a bit boring and a skipped over them.

I am glad I read them tho!

The writing is not the most inventive or descriptive and I have found that by book no. 3 I am able to tear myself away and do other things in between reading. I guess the key to enjoying these books is to not read all 3 of them in one weekend! 🙂

Et tut Sharon?????? I tried but seriously I just can not even finish book one. English is my second language but even I could not ignore the poor grammar. But as they say “different stroke for different folks”! Pun intended! As long as you enjoyed it, is all that matters.

I finished these books in just over 48 hours. I didn’t care that she isn’t a literary genius I just enjoyed the story it was an easy read like you said. Alexander Skarsgård would be my choice for Christian Grey.

    Ian Somerhalder – definately!

I also just started it. Jip, it is not necessarily the best written books, but I enjoy books that is a “light” read, just to relax and these are definately in that category. At first I did not want to read it, as I got a lot of feedback that it is bad. I, however, decided to read it myself and as I say – so far I am enjoying the light entertainment. It is very Mills and Boonsy though and I am surprised that there is such a big hype around these books, but obviously she gave people what they wanted.

And just to confirm – Ian Somerhalder!!!

I loved the books! Christian Grey can tie me up anytime, lol. I think the critics should shut up. I think when a book is told in the first person, it gives a lot of poetic licence. And the author is laughing all the way to the bank, anyway 🙂 Good for her.

Well. You know that I have nothing to add.
I STILL fantasize about Mr Grey. I STILL want to have my way with him. And he is STILL turning me on!!! Have a look at my “books with reading” pinboard on pinterest – you will see my choice of Christian…
While I ADORE Robert Pattison – him being Christian would ruin it for me… He’s not hot-dirty enough for that role.

The best for that role would be for me CHRIS EVANS or PAUL WALKER

I wanted Ian to play Christian..but then I discovered Matt Bomer as Neal Caffrey in White collar and it was such a revelation.
What can I say to convince u? Watch an episode (no matter which one: none of them is bad)..and words will appear to be useless!
He’s smart, sexy (damn he is), gentleman, etc, etc, etc (I don’t have enough vocabulary to express
But above all: he can make u feel the character’s emotion with a lot of talent..
