You know they toddlers are like sponges right?
Well, we’ve been learning that the hard way over the last few weeks. Oh my greatness, the shame and embarrassment over some of the things my child has come up with lately.
Her father is largely to blame for all of this! He things its hilarious to teach her things that frankly I don’t feel are appropriate for little girls.
Like asking her to pull his finger or asking her if she wants to watch him start a motor bike and then he stamps his foot like he’s kicking starting a bike and… well… you can use your imagination for the rest!
When she does pass wind and I say: “What are you supposed to say after you baff?” hoping that she will learn to say excuse me or pardon me. Instead, her father insists on teaching her that the appropriate exclamation after passing wind is: “Good one!!!”
I’ve just received a message from her school teacher informing me that today, she announced to the entire class: “Teacher Candice, I made a baff!”
Oh for shame!
She has also developed this delightful habit, another one I’m convinced she has learned from her father, each time we stop at a robot or stop street, when it’s our time to pull of she exclaims in the loudest angriest voice possible: “Stupid idiot!”
She is also learning about the differences between boys and girls and that boy’s have p.e.n.i.s.e.s. and girls have v.a.g.i.n.a.s. Of course, my husband, being Afrikaans, as taught her that a boy has a tottie and a girl as a donsie (fluff). I won’t even go into detail about what she did a couple of Saturday’s ago when he were standing in the bakery queue in Spa, that involved the use of those words as LOUD as possible during a busy Saturday morning trade!

She may look like a little angel, but this child of mine has a very naughty sense of humour and she’s such a tease and her dad is doing his best to cultivate these characteristics!

LOL – they always learn the wrong things…this post made me LOL!
LMAO! Oh this made me laugh. We are already starting to watch what we say. You never know when it will be time for something to be repeated.
Oh dear – I can see this is exactly where we are heading. She already thinks its hysterically funny and now that she is beginning to talk it is going down hill fast.
oh ffs … are our men cut from the same cloth or what? Mine just hasn’t done the ‘body parts’ bit at this stage and still almost-blushes when I saw the words out loud in front of her.
Bella loves to fart. And she announces it … “heh heh heh .. bella PAAARTED”.
I do laugh. I am one of those who finds farting hilarious… not Travers’, but when it’s a little person, it makes me laugh.
Until i have to write a post about how she ‘parted’ in a shop and announced it too.
sigh.
(please forgive me for laughing out loud at this post, okay?)
Yupp,….can see me going down this route. Our Mamma Lizzy keeps shouting at the dogs “Shhhhh Dammit”…and her Dad scores her “baffs”….so I am looking forwarding to a good few embarrassing moments.
I know that I should not laugh at this but this is funny
I do get what you say and agree. Children are like sponges and if one is not careful with what you teach them or what they hear from you, it does come with embarrassed moments.
Oh lol too cute man! Ja you cant wait for them to talk and then sometimes wish they wouldnt.
Katy has already said “oh s.h.i.t” in the right context, a few times in fact! Having to watch what we say…….
It sounds like Ava Grace would fit in perfectly with my boys. Sadly for me, I can’t blame everything on my husband. Gabe learned to say “stupid ass dog” from me when he was about 2 years old and I was ranting at our idiot dog.
Good heavens, you should see my hubby woth his boys. He cheers on the type of thing. Thank heavens he insists that the girlchild is a little lady.
