It was my 40th birthday on Saturday and finally time for the over night stay I’d been planning and looking forward to for almost 6 months and I’m thrilled to say, it did not disappoint and was everything I’d hoped it would be! Just fabulous darling.
I got spoiled absolutely rotten! My husband and my friends know me so well and totally get and indulge my Hello Kitty obsession and accept that I believe there really is just no such thing as too much bling!
My girl-husband, Lisa-Marie, and her husband flew up from Cape Town on Friday night and we had a lovely relaxed dinner and chat at home. None of us wanting to go overboard for fear of ruining the weekend’s festivities.
On Saturday morning, after being bombarded with over hundres of Twitter, Facebook, BBM, SMS, What’s App, Phone Calls and smoke signal wishes, we headed off to Parys where we enjoyed browsing through a few of the many many antique and interior decorating shops that line the main street before heading to meet the remainder of our party, Elize, Chantal and Ilse at Feast for a light lunch where the champagne flowed and the conversations got louder and louder with more and more laughter.
The husbands headed of for some clay pigeon shooting, which I’m informed Walter totally pwned!
Our accommodation at Le Grand Chatauex was really fantastic, new, neat and clean and offering every home comfort and we’ll definitely be staying there again because I LOVE Parys!!
We had dinner on Saturday night at Ruby’s which is just the most beautiful theatrical restaurant in Pary. The food is beyond spectacular and the decor is rich and a feast for the eyes. But I’m sure they were glad to see the back of us when we left just before midnight after being the most raucous table in the restaurant and also all dressed in our corsets and top hats and sending a win cooler filled with wine crashing to the floor!
After a fabulous night sleep of uninterrupted sleep and getting to sleep in, which was a total treat for those of us with kids, we headed to Hoi Palloi for a late champagne breakfast and then it was time to say our goodbye’s and head on home.
