Cool (kids’) Cabbies – Let Budget & Safety Excellence Go Hand In Hand For Your Children

Sponsored

As a working mom, one of the balls I struggle juggling is school transport! I’ve actually blogged about this quite extensively. You know how it goes, if you’re anything like me, you get to the office, don your working woman hat and literally, the day just flies by. I’m ashamed to admit it, but on a few occasions, I’ve gotten so engrossed in my work I’ve actually forgotten to fetch my children!

School Transport

So like most working moms, I rely on school transport. Well, I say rely rather loosely, because up until recently, the school transport companies we had used, were anything but reliable. In fact, I’d go so far as to say, they were downright unsafe. Hiding behind loopholes in the law and risking my children’s safety!

Cool (kids’) Cabs

But then Cool (kids’) Cabs came along and they have given me such peace of mind! From my own personal experience, I can honestly say that they are the safest and most reliable school transport company

South African’s might be shocked to learn that our laws regarding registered transport drivers exempt them from mandatory car seat usage which, when you consider that all children three years and under must legally travel in a car seat when in a private vehicle, is concerning. These seemingly ‘relaxed’ laws for child transport is especially worrying when you consider that road accident in South Africa causes around one-third of non-natural, or injury-related, deaths among under-fives according to a Medical Research Council’s study.

Cool (kids’) Cabbies

Cool (kids’) Cabs recently launched Cool (kids’) Cabbies as they have been approached repeatedly and pushed to extend our service to a bussed service. Obviously, this is something they’ve had to carefully consider given the passion for the highest safety standards possible.

The Cool (kids’) Cabbie service groups children together who are travelling to similar areas to minimise time on the roads and, unlike buses, they have full three-point seat belts on every seat ensuring that every child is correctly strapped in at all times. All car seats in SA require a three-point belt to install. Few busses have full belts on each seat which means children travelling in group transportation are either not given the option of car seats or these car seats are not properly strapped in.

So here’s a comparison:

In a nutshell, you are still getting the incredible safety standards but at a more budget-friendly price. The only real difference is that there are predetermined collection times and that the number of children transported at any time is increased to 6, all of whom will be travelling to similar areas, so you don’t need to worry about your child travelling extensively long periods in an unsafe bus.

Currently, Cool (kid’s) Cabbies is only available in Johannesburg & Cape Town. You can find the list of schools they currently service here
