Getting All Martha Stewarty for “Dalentines” Day!

Ava is SUPER excited for “Dalentines” day! Why? Because today they’re having a “Dalentines” day picnic at school. Usually the school supplies the lunches, but today all the mom’s were asked to pack picnic lunches for their little ones.

I had LOADS fun preparing Ava’s lunch. After a considerable amount of time spent on Pinterest, I’d come up with a few totally cute idea’s that would fit into the Valentines day theme.

Check out these great idea’s I found:

So I got busy with my interpretations of these creations last night and I’m pretty proud of the final product!

All heart shaped lunch!

So my heart shaped boiled eggs didn’t come out exactly as I’d hoped but I learned that the problem with my technique is that I was pressing the chopstick down to hard into the center of the egg. I learned all of this from Pinterest!

 Here are my eggs:

The other elements of Ava’s lunch came out perfectly. Heart shaped strawberries, sandwiches, cheese and melon, although I’m willing to bet she’ll only actually eat the cheese and strawberries!

The most important thing is that she is super excited for the picnic today. She went off to school so excited to show her teachers her lunch and of course, also to give them the presents she helped me bake – heart shaped pink iced butter biscuits. She literally ran into school with the bags of biscuits to find her teachers and give them their gifts. So very precious!

Two years ago I could barely bake a cake. I still hate cooking but I must say motherhood has brought out a tiny fraction of the Martha Stewart hidden somewhere inside me. I had loads of fun looking for idea’s and coming up with a fun Valentines lunch for my precious!

That is just DARLING, Sharon! And you went through so much effort to make it special. I have to agree that Motherhood does certainly make one a little more Stepford-like. Or at least if not – it certainly makes the desire stronger!

Shaz these are great and now I am all inspired for a special love day in the future. I’m not much of a ‘Dalentines’ Day fan, but love having special romantic days when it seems right.
