How I Intend To Have 52 Happy Monday’s In 2018

Guys, you know, Christmas is literally just around the corner and before we know, the festive season will be behind us and we’ll be welcoming in the new year! It’s time to start thinking about what we want out of 2018! Now I don’t know about you, but my life seems to go in cycles. 2014 was an amazing year for me personally, I embarked on my banting journey and felt like the world was my oyster.

But then….. mental illness….

2015 was a terrible year for me that ended with a complete mental breakdown. And since then, I’ve spent the last two years, cautiously caring for my mental health. The good news is, I’m feeling fit and strong and ready to make 2018 my year of happiness.

Here’s how I plan to do it:

By starting each week off with 52 happy Monday’s!

How?

Easy really. Aside from just caring for my mental health, I need to get back into seriously caring for my physical health too. I’m also such a Type A personality, that the best way for me to stick to my goals is to kick Monday off with a bang. If Monday is a happy day, I achieve what I set out to, then the rest of the week is sure to follow. So here’s what I’m committing to do to achieve 52 happy Monday’s:

Start Each Monday With A Run

I’ve recently started getting back into my running. I won’t lie, it’s been hard. I battled with Plantar Facsitis for about a year and after the injury finally healed, I was so out of my running routine that I’ve struggled to get back into it. But here’s the thing, starting my Monday morning with a run puts me on such a high and what’s even better than that? Having that run with my Princess Layla, she loves it, we recently starting hitting the road together again and it’s been so good both emotionally and physically for the both of us. 

Start Each Week With Meal Planning

Because I hate that Monday afternoon rush to the supermarket after work. I’ve also been following a number of other bloggers who have been trying out online grocery shopping and meal planning and all of them swear is reduces the grocery spend. So I’m dead keen to give that a try. Also, ugh, who ever feels like grocery shopping?

Monday is a fun day…

As most of you know, I changed jobs recently. And while I was never desperately unhappy previously, after 12 years, the change has been good for me. I love Monday’s! I wake up with anticipation for the week ahead. I know I will be challenged, I know I will learn new things and it’s incredibly exciting for me. Monday’s are not what they used to be for me.

    This has been such an inspiring post to read. Mainly because we are taking a huge risk and moving from a Durban to Cape Town in December. 2018 has a lot of unknowns for us, and your post has been a reminder to choose happiness.
