Manipulation!

Wow! But we have entered new territory as first time parents and I must say, I am finding this stage very trying but also highly entertaining. Ava-Grace has discovered the power of manipulation! And she uses it EVERY chance she gets. She hasn’t quite honed her manipulation skills as yet so she has made one mistake which has allowed us to catch on to her, fast! She uses the same tactic for the same situation, EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Scene 1: Take 972

Daddy: Ava, it’s time to go bath.

Ava: I’m making poo!

Daddy: Ok, Daddy will wait 5 minutes till you’re done.

Ava: skips off to go and play!

Scene 2: Take 1936

Mommy: Bed time angel.

Ava: I want more bottie.

Mommy: Ok, Mommy will get you some more bottie.

Ava: continues her shenanigans in her room.

Mommy: Ava, I said it’s time to go to sleep.

Ava: But I want more bottie Mommy!

Rinse & repeat about 500 times before she finally falls asleep.

Scene 3: Take 9326

Mommy: Ava, eat your supper darling.

Ava: my throat is sore/it’s hot/it’s cold/I no like it!

Mommy: Ava, if you don’t eat your supper you’re going to sit on the naughty step.

Ava: OK! *walks over and plonks herself down on the naughty step*

Scene 4: Take 20375

Loveness: Come Princess, lets get dressed for school.

Ava: I no want to wear that.

Loveness: Ok Princess, what would you like to wear…..

Ava: runs of nekkid down the passage!

I swear, I thought infertility had taught me patience, but in reality, infertility has nothing on this child and her ability to teach me patience!

Oh I know, I think I have aged 10 years in the last 6 months. Mine is “I don’t feel well” whenever he gets into trouble for anything. He also tried the I need to make a poo, to delay bedtime, but after being told he would get a smack if he didn’t make a poo, and then getting a smack when it didn’t happen, he has only tried that one more time. But boy does he make me laugh with some of his antics and expressions. Today while I was hanging up the washing he saunters out into the garden and says “I wonder what would be the perfect spot to eat my sandwich”, I mean where does that come from.

Oh YAY, you’re having tons of “FUN”!

Yup we’re getting this as well, as well as “come here quick”, “what’s this”, “why’s this” & “how’s this” 50 million times a day! He has an answer for everything and is the hardest boss I’ve ever worked for! Sitting quietly and reading or watching TV is a luxury in our house as Adam hates inactivity or parental laziness!! Not to mention temper tantrums, possessiveness & threatening to tell Oupa if we do something he perceives as doing him wrong….

On Sunday he was “bored” and asks Jaco “Daddy can I fix that”, Jaco asked what and Adam looks around searchingly for something broken saying “ummm ummm umm….”

Mommy is also always “NAUGHTY Mommy”….
