Mom’s – Do Your Monsters *heart* Moshi Monsters?

My first blog give away EVER! And it’s a sweet one! Especially for all you Mom’s who have little ones with Nintendo DS hand held gaming consoles.

Moshi Monsters is a free online game for children where they adopt and look after their own Moshi Monster by solving puzzle games, which earn their monster virtual rewards called Rox. Kids can spend Rox on virtual items like food, furniture and other treats and toys for their monster. Over time their monster will increase in level, be able to visit new locations in Monstro City, and earn all kinds of in-game rewards for playing. Monster owners will also be able to make friends with other owners and leave messages on their pages.

Education is right at the heart of the Moshi Monsters experience. Every day your child’s monster will create a series of fun puzzles that test everything from vocabulary and arithmetic to logic and spatial skills. The better your child does at these puzzles, the more Rox they’ll earn to buy cool things for their monster. The difficulty level of the puzzles automatically calibrates each day, so puzzles get harder if they are doing well, and easier if they are struggling.

Successfully nurturing a Moshi Monster is no mean feat. It takes a variety of skills that your child can develop over time. Your child will need to think creatively, hypothesize, strategize, manage resources, collaborate with friends, and nurture a wide variety of other skills that could extend positively into their everyday lives.

The adopted monsters love words and communicate with their monster owners regularly via speech bubbles, to encourage reading. Their moods are visually represented and also expressed by a printed word in their virtual room. Since their moods can change regularly, your child has plenty of opportunity to learn new vocabulary. For instance, their monster might be feeling ‘jubilant’ one day, but ‘melancholy’ the next.

The game is now available for your DS too, a South African release date still pending. And if you were doing  any shopping in your favorite toy stores over the last few months, you will have noticed that this is a rapidly increasing brand with toys now available too!

Now available in South Africa are the Moshi Monsters accessory packs for your little monsters at selected retailers, I recently purchased one of these for my niece and to say she literally plutzed would be an understatement! After her families home was burgled, the only thing she cared about was that her Moshi Monster DS pack was not stolen!

I have 4 Moshi Monster packs to give away.

A Moshi 7 in 1 pack for girls & a boys pack, valued at R299.99, each containing a DS Case, 2x Stylus Pens, 2x DS Character Card Cases, Character Screen Wipe and a sticker pack.

Am I THAT behind that I don’t know who on Earth Moshi Monsters are??? My life has been all Hello Kitty and Barbie that I appear to have missed a whooooole lot of boats, shaz.
That little bag, however, is to D.I.E. for!!
I’d have to go with Poppet being a favourite because I use the term so often to describe little girlies!

OK. I’m going to ask a dumb question now. Can this work on an xbox30? I asked Child 1 and he says he likes Diavlo. Will tweet this.

My kids play Moshi Monsters on my PC -and Georgia can spend hours building her little Moshi world/farm … who know — I am sure that Poppet is Georgia’s favourite, but I have a soft spot for Furi – he reminds me of the hairy guy from Star Wars.

    Cool competition!
