What Will 2012 Reveal For Us….

I’m not a new years resolution kinda gal. I really just don’t see the point. Who honestly actually sticks to their resolutions anyway?

I have seen a number of blog postings about a word for 2012 and if I were to choose one word that I would hope would sum up what lies ahead for us, it would be: ACTION.

Walter and I have spent a number of years procrastinating over a few decisions that we need/want to make and we’ve committed to ensuring that our decisions will be made this year and that action will be taken.

One of the decisions that we’ve been toying with for some time was whether or not to sell our house. And we made that decision over our Christmas holiday, came home from holidays and immediately swung into action in that regard. We contacted the estate agent who has been chasing us since October of 2010 to sell our home and by Thursday last week we were officially on the market. This means that we spent the last few days of our leave doing little odd jobs around the house – repainting door frames, washing crayon marks off the walls, re-oiling our wooden window frames, all the little odd jobs that are so easy to keep putting off but really are no big deal actually.

We also finally got around to sorting out all Ava’s toys, packing away what she no longer plays with or has out grown and compliments of West Pack (man I love that place) purchasing suitable storage solutions so that it no longer looks like a toy store threw up in our lounge.  Some of you may recall that at the beginning of 2011 a wrote a blog posting about reorganizing and de-cluttering our living space. Well, 2011 was definitely the year of procrastination because I thought about this the whole of last year but did sweet bugger all about it, enter 2012 and after one shopping trip and an hour it is now done = ACTION.

Obviously it makes sense to de-clutter and reorganize our home now, so that it looks uncluttered and comfortable to potential buyers and of course, saves us having to pack up a ton of unused/unwanted goods when the time comes to move. So we have also booked a Red Bin skip which is being delivered to our home on Thursday – guess what we’ll be doing this weekend? Yip, that’s right, more sorting, organizing & trashing.

The other area I’m also hoping to see some ACTION in is with the placement of our second child. We’ve officially been on the waiting list since April last year, that’s 9 months! That’s about 8 months and one week longer than we had to wait for Ava! I have had some contact with our SW over the past month which has lead me to believe/hope that 2012 could definitely be the year for the birth of our second child, we continue to hope, pray and wait on God.

All in all, I’m excited about the year ahead, I can just FEEL it’s going to be a great year!

Good luck, selling and buying is stressful so I hope it all goes fast. I am also hoping the other thing happens soon too…… Which I reckon it will.

Oh, good luck with that. I hope you find a gorgeous new house to buy 🙂 As for the procrastination and decluttering – I know all about that. And I live in a small townhouse, it shouldn’t be that hard – but it is! I hope to follow your lead this week and get my own sh*t sorted out. I dream of clean lines and open spaces, but then wake up to my stubborn pigsty, lol.

you know what – I have the same ‘good’ feeling about this year. And that includes for you guys, especially after our chat.
Isabella has waaaay too many toys now that are no longer age appropriate. We have also been thinking along the lines of donating them to an orphanage. Along with clothes that she seems to outgrow at a hideously rapid rate!!
