The countdown to our little princess’s first birthday part has begun and quite honestly, I couldn’t be more excited.
The invitations arrived yesterday, all the way from America, they had made the month-long journey to my post box and when I received them yesterday, my excitement started to grow.
Her personalized party dress, also from America, arrived a month ago. The cake has been booked and is being created by Chanelle. The venue is organized and the catering ordered. The theme has been agreed to and is being designed and executed by Party Buddies. The party favors are being created by my good friend, Roz and her sister Charné. The champagne will flow. The guest list is finalized.
It’s a small intimate party, about 25 adults and 8 children. Its much more of a grown up’s party really, it’s about a celebration for Walter and I. Again this morning, while tidying up the kitchen, Walter said out of the blue – “I still can’t believe I have a daughter, after spending so many years believing we’d never have a child, I still can’t believe it!” This party is our celebration, of surviving the first year, of our reality, which still hasn’t fully sunk in.
I’m horrendously over budget, the elements of the party are quite OTT for a one year old who won’t have a clue of what is going on but really I don’t care. I never thought the day would come where I’d get to plan a party.
All that’s left to do now is count down the days till we get to celebrate!
