Walter and I have discussed how we would like to have our adoption profile completed by the time we go for our assessment day on the 25th March. Obviously having this done sooner will speed up how quickly we can be presented as potential adopted parents to birth mom’s.

Last time, we had no time to create a profile, we put our profile together in one evening using a template on word. It wasn’t especially pretty and once it was printed, the photo’s were very low res and not a great quality either. Our last profile was literally a word document, plastic wrapped and bound.

We’ve been discussing ways of doing it this time and decided to go with Blurb. After doing lots of research and checking out the various options, despite the fact that we will pay for the book in US$, including shipping, it still works out cheaper than having one printed locally printed. In addition, the Blurb software was really easy to use. I downloaded the app yesterday morning and started working on our profile at about 10h00. It was so user-friendly, that in between seeing to Ava, making her lunch, going out for a walk and keeping her entertained, we managed to finish our profile by 17h00 yesterday afternoon.

It was fairly easy to put it all together, we pretty much kept to the frame-work of our previous profile but altered it to include Ava-Grace as well as our thoughts and feelings on experiencing parenthood and also our motivation behind adopting a second time.

It looks GORGEOUS! I’ve selected black, high gloss pages, with white print and all our photo’s are trimmed in white as well. We’ve gone with the hardcover A4 landscape book and I can’t wait for it to arrive. Its going to be gorgeous and will hopefully stand out amongst the profiles that the birth mom’s are viewing.

So here we are taking another step closer!
