then Muhammad must go to the mountain. Or in our case, if Ava the beach won’t come to Ava, then Ava must go to the beach. That’s the rationale of her daddy anyway.

So a couple of week’s ago, while watching an episode of Giggle Bizz, Ava-Grace announces that she wants to go to the beach and her daddy was only to happy to oblige. Within a couple of day’s he’d surprised us with a mini beach break to Natal!

We arrived in Umhlanga on Thursday afternoon and have had the most fabulous mini break. We stayed at the Protea Hotel Umhlanga, which couldn’t have been more perfect, recently renovated, the rooms are new and modern, with partially self-catering facilities making it ideal accommodation when travelling with a little one. We were less than a 3 minute walk to the beach and in the heart of the Umhlanga beach front with loads of restaurants and shops right below us.

Ava was in her element on the beach and even though the rest of the country was freezing their bums off, we were on the beach every single day, despite Durbanites complaining it was cold, it was really mild to warm in comparison to Jozi temps.

We also spent a day at Ushaka where Ava was captivated by the marine life and was most especially taken with the Seal show and the Penguins, especially the one Penguin who kept trying to bite & chase my fingers along the glass on the outside of their pool.

We spent 4 days just walking on the beach, eating and napping and it was the perfect mini break to prepare us for the final, crazy last half of the year!

We had such a great time and it was such a pleasure to see Ava enjoying herself so much that we’re already planning another weekend break in Durbs in November and then of course there’s our December holiday in Cape Town and most excitingly, our New Years get away with my girl-husband, Lisa-Marie and her family in Langebaan.
So Ava will indeed be going to the beach!
