Ava’s school has been offering ballet lesson’s as an extra mural activity for the past year and of course, being a typical girly girl, Miss Ava was super excited to join ballet classes. So far they’re been really informal, not requiring a special outfit and done in the class room in regular clothes over the past year.
On Wednesday, we were invited to attend a special viewing of our little ballerina’s and I was super chuffed to discover that Ava had been put in with a group of girls who were to be performing a little mermaid dance. We were asked to send them to school in a light make up and in ballet appropriate clothing for the performance and Ava instantly fell in love with the little ensemble I put together for her.
I couldn’t have been prouder of my little ballerina on Wednesday. Sitting there watching them perform, albeit like a herd of baby elephants, was the sweetest and proudest moment for me, the look of pride an accomplishment on Ava’s face was priceless and I had tears in my eyes throughout their entire performance!
Here is a video her daddy took of her doing her mermaid dance. Precious child.

At the end of the class they were each presented with certificate and Ava was undeniably proud of herself. For now, ballet is something we will continue doing, Ava loves it, it’s great for building strength and flexibility and it also teaches her discipline.
Oh… & just a little bit of shameless begging…
