One Million Views! Thank You!

A pretty big milestone passed by on this here little blog a few days or weeks ago! And if I hadn’t specifically gone looking for the stat, after a PR query, I probably wouldn’t even knows.

One Million Views!

Honestly, when I think about what my plan was for my blog back in 2008 when I first started blogging, I’d never have dreamed I’d have ended up here.

The History Of The Blessed Barrenness

My blog has changed and morphed so much over the years. When I first started blogging, my blog was called The (Not So) Secret Life Of Us and it was a dark and broken place. I was 5+ years into my struggle with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. When I started blogging, I’d already had 6 miscarriages and 3 failed IVF’s along with a thousand other rounds of treatment and surgeries. Some of those old posts are still available in my archives for those of you who would be interested in reading them. When I look back on them, there is so much pain, so much grief, so much anguish and so much outpouring of raw emotions.

From Secret Life To Mindful Meanderings

From there I moved to Mindful Meanderings which was pretty much a self hosted version of The (Not So) Secret Life Of Us. And more of the same raw emotions and grief as I continued on with fertility treatment, more surgeries, more IVF’s and my 7th pregnancy and miscarriage.

But then on in December of 2009, I wrote the post that gave me the most joy, I wrote my very own “birth story” about Ava’s birth day. And from there my blogging journey began to change. I had assumed that once my infertility was over and I no longer needed the online sounding board and journal to purge my pain from infertility, that I’d give up my blog and move on. I had no idea that it would turn into such a passion project for me.

The Blessed Barrenness Is Born

And that’s where the million views started. In 2010 when I moved over to The Blessed Barrenness, infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss survivor, adoption advocate and mommy blogger.

Of course, as my children have grown and I’ve matured as the writer of The Blessed Barrenness, so has the focus of my blog changed. Where previously it had been a way of offering and asking for support, it has morphed into something more than that for me now. It’s a key part of how I express myself. It’s my creative outlet, it’s my hobby and my passion project. I get so much pleasure out of creating content, whether it be written, imagery and now video. I’m not really sure my blog has a niché anymore. It’s become an extension of who I am as a person and I write and create purely for the pleasure of it. It’s part lifestyle, part parenting, part advice, part health, part fitness, part beauty, part support and all of me.

Some interesting stats:

To every person who has stopped by over the years, thank you. Thank you for reading, for commenting (because all bloggers will tell you, comments mean everything) for supporting and encouraging, for engaging and sometimes even trolling.

It’s been one HELL of a journey! Here’s to the next one million views!
