Today is my precious child’s one month birthday! After waking her for her morning feed, W and I were setting her up to take a photo to mark the occasion, when something happened that I have been SO looking forward to but was quite unprepared for.
I was kneeling on the floor in front of her, kissing her feet and talking to her in a funny voice when I heard this coo’ing sound… when I looked up, she was staring at me with the widest, gummiest smile on her face. I burst into tears and the more I cried and talked to her the wider her gummy smile got. Thank goodness W was there to witness the milestone and of course he rushed to Dr Google to confirm that it was indeed possible for her to start smiling from so early on and it is! According to Dr Google, babies can start smiling for the first time between 4 and 8 weeks of age. Such a cleaver little sausage to do it so early! Of course we’ve marked it off in her baby book as a reminder of the first of many man milestones to come.
I still cannot believe I get to call this beautiful miracle my daughter! I still cannot believe that I have been so blessed with this beautiful child. I still believe I have the most beautiful baby girl in the whole wide world, but I could be being slightly biased there! 🙂
