I just got back from an insanely crazy trip from Cape Town, where I was working at Mama Magic, the Baby Expo. It was a crazy trip, we worked our asses off and had a lot of fun too. Loads of hysterically funny moments and stress for days.

But I did go on the hunt for some unusual finds…

These are some of my favorite finds from the expo.

Mimaco – The Minimalist Mama Company

I absolutely love their Cape Kaftan’s. This is a mother daughter duo that have come up with a great idea. Their Cape Kaftan is so gorgeous that I seriously want to buy myself one too, even though I’m not pregnant or breast feeding.

My mom made me the original Cape Kaftan. I loved it because it made me feel feminine and graceful and when I got pregnant she had the great idea to alter it for me so that I could wear it in the summer with my bump in full swing. I was hot and bothered and it didn’t matter what I wore within weeks it became figure hugging. Thus she made me more and I lived in my kaftans. The fabric breathes and I could move around freely.

After my son was born we twigged just how convenient the design was for breastfeeding. By the time he was 6 weeks old, I was confident enough to feed him conservatively without even needing a shawl. I was so often asked where I bought it we decided to take the risk and start manufacturing it ourselves and the Minimal Mama Company was born.

May these dresses make your lives easier and make you feel beautiful. It is an essential every mama (even the minimalist) should own.

Their Cape Kaftan’s are great for preggie bellies, breast feeding moms, actually just all women.

I had the pleasure of meeting Theamari at the expo and was blown away by her beautiful stand and practical ideas!

I’m Theamari! I launched JeleBebe Teething Jewellery in January of 2016, 6 months after our son was born. I always love to wear jewellery and soon noticed that I needed to pack mine away. That’s where idea of silicone teething jewellery was born. I noticed a need for beautiful, modern, fashionable silicone teething jewelry. Our son is the reason to it all.

I really enjoy it to keep my creative side busy and love to design beautiful teething jewellery collections.
We aim to design different beautiful jewellery designs for every meme’s needs. We’re a fresh approach to silicone teething jewelry, offering a wide variety of styles and colors with pricing to fit all memes pockets while being completely safe for their bebes to touch, pull, and teethe on.

We strive to create unique, functional and stylish teething jewellery that set us apart in quality and practicality of design. For example, you’ll notice our necklaces have exposed cord along the neck, no beads there means they won’t catch your hair while being worn. The necklaces also come with a ‘break away’ clasp which means that bebe can pull it off your neck without breaking your stylish accessory piece. The beads have knots to either sides ensuring they stay together should the cord break – which is highly unlikely. The designs are made highly fashionable for meme to wear long before or after the teething stage of bebe.

I really loved the concept, remembering when I was a mom of babies, how they’d chew, drool and pull all my jewellery and as a result I stopped wearing it because it all landed up either damaged or broken.

Not only does JeléBelé offer a wide range of styles but also beautiful color variations too. I loved the functional styles. And the store was just so beautiful and eye catching.

The Baby Shusher

As a mom who struggled with sleep cycles with both my babies, I’d be dead keen to give this a try now if my girls were still babies. Ava had colic and Hannah had extreme stress and I believe the Baby Shusher could have gone a long way in helping to calm them and improve their sleep patterns.

Rhythmic Shush
This is a doctor-approved and thoroughly tested technique designed to break a baby’s cry spell and engage their natural calming reflex. The rhythmic shush reminds baby of being inside mom, where they were inundated 24 hours a day with loud sounds of blood flow and other in utero noises (up to 95 dBs, or the sound of a very loud vacuum cleaner). What may sound harsh at first is actually very calming to a baby.

The Baby Shusher literally recreates sounds from inside the womb and I can’t help feeling like, especially with Hannah who was so stressed, it could have gone a long way in calming and soothing her.

There were quite a few new products, or products I hadn’t known about, but those are my three favorites.

Where you at the expo? What was your favorite find?
