Mother’s Day is a big deal for me. I spent so many years dreading the day and feeling hurt and sad on the day that now that I am blessed to be a Mom, I want to embrace this day and enjoy it for everything it finally means to me.
My husband knows, I expect flowers and presents and breakfast in bed and a nice lunch somewhere and to be whined and dined and treated on the day, mostly just because it feels so fantastic to be apart of the mom club that I felt excluded from for so very long.
Also, because I know my husband is not a mind reader and to avoid disappointment on my part, or stress on his part, I usually tell him what I’d like before the time, so that the poor guy at least has a clue and doesn’t have to do a mad dash the day before Mother’s Day to buy me a bunch of limp flowers and stale chocolates from the garage shop.
So here are my top pics for Mother’s Day 2016.
I love pot plants, especially succulents.
Proteas, Tulips and Irises are my favorites.
The Punching Pen
Is from Typo and I love it! When you press the button on his back, his eyes light up and his arms pop out and start punching. I just think it’s cute! And quirky and I just love it!
Shaggy Dog Scatter Cushions
I saw these at Woolies in the week and fell in love!
Then the expensive gifts….
I’m a lucky girl, I have both a Thomas Sabo and Pandora charm bracelets, both of them are full of charms. The problem….. they were both bought for me when I was tipping the scales at 118kg’s so I’ve been unable to wear them in the last couple of years because they literally just fall off! They slide right off my hands, and we all know how expensive the charms for both those bracelets are. I could still wear it I suppose, around my elbows, but no one wants a charm bracelet around their elbows. So both of my beautiful bracelets are lying the the bottom of my jewelry box because apparently most of the weight I lost came off my wrists!
Of course a lovely lunch out somewhere would also be special. My favorite places to go for beautiful, elegant lunches with scrumptious foods are Toadbudy Hall or Casalinga. Mostly I just want to go for a beautiful lunch somewhere in a pretty garden, that had starched white table cloths, serves wine in chilled glasses, has an elegant menu and not a bloody jumping castle of face painter anywhere in sight. I know, not exactly a riot a minute for my children, but hey, it’s MY day!
Walter… hint hint hint….
How do you enjoy celebrating mothers day?
