{WIN} A Copy Of The Banting Solution

Or as I like to call it…. The Idiots Guide To Banting.

No offense, but Banting is quite a radical way of thinking if you’re a follower of traditional nutritional advice. It’s hard to wrap your head around it given how we’ve been indoctrinated into believing that our modern, processed, high carb diets are healthy and balanced diets, while we continue to get sicker and diabetes and other modern diseases are on the increase.

I won’t lie, it was hard for me to wrap my head around when we first started banting two and a half years ago. But my results spoke for themselves. And the changes in my body and health were undeniable. I’d been following the wrong dietary advice for my entire adult life. Here’s a reminder of where I started and where I am today:

Sharon Front View

Front view after a year of banting.

Sharon Side View

Me side view after a year of banting.

And it’s a lifestyle I intend to stick to. I’m NEVER going back to where I came from. I can’t. I won’t. I love how my body functions on banting. I love how I look on banting and I love how I feel on banting.

And it’s an easy lifestyle to follow when you have a good grasp on the basics of banting. There is a lot of literature available on banting and low carb high fat lifestyles. Great recipe books and local recipe books and banting for children. And yet, even when we’ve read them, we’ve had questions and there are grey areas that leave a lot of us confused.

That’s what makes The Banting Solution so great.

The Banting Solution Review

About the book:
At last, the banting book that will answer ALL your questions about the banting lifestyle AND provide you with the solution to permanent weight loss! The Banting Solution not only explains what banting is all about, but also:
• answers banters’ most pressing questions;
• busts the myths that have cropped up around banting;
• provides helpful meal plans and banting-friendly food lists;
• helps us understand food labels; and
• teaches us how to bant on a budget.
Most importantly, it teaches us how to get rid of those unwanted kilos and keep them off forever! With solid research supported by actual case studies and before-and-after photographs, readers will now be able to access all the information they need about banting in just one book.
What I loved most about this book is that is extensively covers areas that have left many of us confused. It has REALLY in depth green, orange and red food lists and covers everything from how banting works and why it works to questions that I see asked over and over again on all the banting support groups that none of the other books available cover. From facts and myths on alcohol (ahem) and everything in between.
It even has detailed meal plans for low carb tolerant and slow starter banters, for lacto-ovo-vegeterian and flexitarian banters, for fat sensitive banters and also for those who are profoundly insulin resistent (me) and those who are aiming for nutritional ketosis.
The book also details shopping lists and basic ingredients you always want to have on hand when banting as well as frequently asked questions and everything in between. There are also recipes, although this is not the main focus of the book and so many of the other banting books have already covered this.
The book is co-written by Berndine Douglas, who is the founder of Slender Slim 4 U banting clinics and Bridgette Allan, who is a registered nurse who has also studied personal nutrition and nutritional therapy and runs her own integrative wellness practice.
You can buy your copy of The Banting Solution (which is also available in Afrikaans) from Loot,  Takealot or Raru and most good book stores.
Or you could win your copy here:

It’s a great book, if you’re interested in trying out the banting lifestyle, I’d highly recommend you get a copy of this book along with all the others as it covers a lot of areas that the other books don’t.

    I am definitely keen to try it. I’ve heard so many good things but all the info seems overwhelming. The book would be such a great start to help me get into banting and understanding it!

    Gosh I am so back to Banting basics today! I’ve had a fabulous few weeks of holidays but nothing compares to how I feel when I bant. I try and justify the indulgence while I’m on holiday and Easter eggs and hot cross buns abound but the truth is I don’t feel good when I eat a high carb diet. I’m bloated and low on energy and the weight just piles back. So today is back to basic Banting, lots of running and good healthy habits.

    I have been banting for about a year and a half and have lost 20 kilos. Sadly I have fallen off the wagon a few times and am desperately trying to get back on.

    I have never tried Banting, but have read and heard a lot about it both good and bad. I think everyone needs to be reminded on the basics of health and nutrition…I don’t believe there is one single healthy diet for everyone, we are all different and YES, Banting does work for some people! But then life is full of choices, so we can make our own and decide and see what works for us. That being said, I am keen to give Banting a try and incorporate it into my lifestyle to see if it works for me, and this book will help guide me in doing this.

    I have banted on and off for the past year, I can feel I am doing damage to my body by yo-yoing between banting and reverting back to my old habits! Can’t seem to stay motivated and in desperate need of a kick in the butt. I’m excited to see that there is a new book available.

    Banting works so well for my hubby and I. We cheated a bit over Easter but as from today we are back on track. I love the quick weight loss and the energy levels I have when banting.
    You look amazing..well done!

    I’ve been struggling with weight loss my whole life and always try these quick *lose 10ks’s in 1 month* diets, and fail miserably.
    Banting is a new concept to me, as you mentioned in your post. But Its a lifestyle change, one I need.

    I am keen; I’ve heard so much about it, but mostly hype. I would love to read all about it as explained by the experts, and try it for myself. You look great after a year of banting, and I’m hoping for similar results!

    People always wanted to know my secret of staying thin and eating as much as I do, but I’ve always believed in high fat (was very difficult to find anything full cream a few years ago), and I just didn’t have a sweet tooth, even as a kid. But then a few years ago I stopped smoking and I had to have ALL the sweet things I haven’t had since I was born. Beginning of the year I tried a 20 day challenge where I had no carbohydrates/sugar and I lost 3kg, but without the challenge I just can’t seem to get back into it.
