This week Ava discovered her voice in a big way! I mean she discovered she can scream, like a real high pitched shriek and its become her new favorite thing! God help us!!!

She will start to shriek and she’ll just keep going and if I make any comment on it, she thinks its hilarious and starts giggling at me! She’s also started with…. wait for it… tantrums! God help us. When she gets upset, she throws herself back in my arms and arches her back and makes sure I know she’s well and truly annoyed! She did it a number of times during Kinder Music this week, each time we were finished with a musical instrument and I had to pack it away, she’d throw herself back arching her back but the Kinder Music Teacher assured me this is normal for this time in her development. Lord I hope so!

She also seems to think she can charm anyone with that freely given smile of hers. She’s taken to smiling at the TV when they show close ups of people’s faces. So without them even knowing it, Vuyo Mbuli and Leanne Manas of Morning Live as well as Oprah Winfrey are having the charms of little Ava Grace unleashed on them!

Oh and I hit Baby City in a HUGE way yesterday, first full salary in a 4 months, I was chomping at the bit for a big spending spree and I did a pretty good job… 1x trolley and 1x charged bank account, in Baby City yesterday. All necessary purchases, I assure you, especially these, when I saw them I knew she just had to have them. Very citché I know but hey that’s what being a little girl is all about!

Too citché! Too cute!

All a phase. Neither of my kids get temper tantrums anymore. Bianca had maybe 5 temper tantrums in her life (although got the first one when she was about 7 months). Caitlyn started later, had more tantrums, but has also outgrown them long time ago – just don’t give in. If you said no or you are busy packing something away, keep at it regardless of whether they go wild, screaming, arching, whatever. Otherwise Ava will learn she’ll get her way this way. And I’ve seen kids who are even as old as 6 or 7 still having tantrums because the parents would say no, child will have a tantrum, parent will give in and change to yes, child is happy and so the bad cycle continues. Praise and make a fuss of the smiles, the giggles, the cute, ignore the temper tantrums and she’ll quickly learn it doesn’t pay to act that way.

Those shoes are just too cute!!!!

    Love those shoes.

I used to go to Baby City every month for a pair of Shooshoes (sp?). Those are my all time favourite baby shoes.

Everything is a phase with kids..hang in.. “this too shall pass” – all a cliche I know, but really true and sometimes all you’ve got left to hold on to during the tougher phases!

More importantly, those shoes were an essential purchase! The start of many essential shoe purchases to come! 😉
